Description

YOSHIDA Takumi (born 1996, Hyōgo)

Chinmoku (“Silence”)

In Silence, Yoshida Takumi gives bamboo a powerful, compact form that nevertheless remains animated by movement. The long strands of madake coil and tighten, while light glides across their surface and reveals the tensions within the sculpture.

The artist drew inspiration from the whale, an immense and silent presence moving through the depths. Without representing it directly, he evokes its strength, stillness and mystery. The work invites the viewer to look slowly and to sense what cannot be expressed in words.
