Meteorit by Yonezawa Jirō

Galerie Mingei represents Yonezawa Jirō in France.

Yonezawa Jirō was born in Ōita in 1956, and trained in the artisanal school in Beppu, the centre of bamboo production in Kyushu. He sophisticated his skills from the bamboo artist Ono Masakatsu.
He moved to the Unites States in 1989 and based in Portland, Oregon. He worked for the following eighteen years there holding exhibitions, meanwhile he was exposed to the American crafts, which continuously influences his creativity even after returning to Kyushu in 2007.
He uses different materials such as Styrofoam and steel wire in his art to prosecute the shape and form he intended. Hence, his works diverse in size and style.
Galerie Mingei exhibited Yonezawa Jiro in "The Beauty of Japanese Bamboo Art" exhibition (6th december 2018 - 26th january 2019)
Yonezawa Jiro made especially a work called "Daruma" for "Fendre l'Air" exhibition at Quai Branly museum (27th november 2018 - 7th april 2019).
