Signed : Chikuunsai zō [made by Chikuunsai]

The oldest Anthology of Japanese poems is entitled Man’yō-shū (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves), which was compiled in the 8th century.

Tanabe Chikuunsai II (1910-2000); his original given name is 田辺利雄 Tanabe Toshio.

Box Signed “Tekisuikyo”

Tekisuikyo is a name of the house where Chikuunsa II lived during the Second World War, from 1944-1955.

The inside of the otoshi is lined with red lacquer.
