Furuya stones (Furuya-ishi) are from the mountains of the Wakayama area of Japan. Furuya is a very hard black or grayish-black limestone . They mostly represent mountain sceneries, waterfalls or jagged coastlines. Furuya stone is characterized by deep cuts and fine white mineral veins, which symbolize waterfalls and mountain streams.
